If you go to St Heliers Hospital or Epsom Hospital for a blood test… Posted on 7 Oct 2020

Did you know…If you go to St Heliers Hospital or Epsom Hospital for a blood test…

The process will work as follows: GPs will request bloods as usual but instead of printing and giving the forms to the patient would simply ask them to attend a phlebotomy service with one of the following:

  • A letter/electronic document showing their name and NHS number (preferred)
  • In the absence of the above, a photographic ID showing name and date of birth

Unfortunately, if the patient presents without this information they will not be able to have the sample taken. The phlebotomist will print the blood form on arrival in the department, collect the bloods and forward them to the lab.
